Enhancing Geography Education in Washington State

Geography Awareness Week is November 16-22

Hi Everyone,

The third week of November is Geography Awareness Week. Young Americans are painfully ignorant of even the most basic concepts of geography, like where places are located:

"YOUNG AMERICANS STILL LACK BASIC GLOBAL KNOWLEDGE" http://press.nationalgeographic.com/pressroom/index.jsp?pageID=pres...

Do your part--if you're a teacher, have a special activity in class teaching geography.

If you're not a teacher, write to your local elected officials requesting a proclamation in recognition of this important week (last year Gov. Chrisitine Gregoire did exactly that at the request of our vice president, Meghan Hoyer!)
